DC Date Idea: Sakura Matsuri Street Festival this Saturdayby Nikki Bogopolskaya on April 7, 2020
This weekend promises to be warm and bright, so grab a friend or bring a date and make your way over to the Sakura Matsuri Street Festival in DC’s Penn Quarter. With the Cherry Blossom Festival wrapping up, what better way to spend a sunny Saturday than sampling beer and sake, tasting bites from DC’s finest sushi purveyors, and watching traditional Japanese dance and music?
Best of all—HowHookup will be there! We’re going to post up in the Kirin Ichiban Beer Garden with excellent swag and a plethora of date stories and ideas. Stop by and say hi — if you’re on a HowHookup date, we’ll buy you a beer. And a sake shot if you kiss for us.
When you’re not hanging out with the fine HowHookup folk (although we’re sure you’ll want to stay by our side all day), be sure to check out these attractions:
-Food and Drink from Asia Nine, Café Ima, Hama Sushi, TK Grill, Thai Terrace & many more.
-The Yosakoi -Dance Project, an awesome dance troupe which combines traditional Japanese dance and cultural movements with contemporary dance.
-Maki Kaji, the inventor of Sudoku (and saver of students and commuters everywhere).
-SeShami Street, a fusion of Japanese music and comedy (PS: they’re cute).
If that all isn’t enticing enough, part of your $5 ticket donation goes to charities helping with earthquake relief in Japan. Steamed buns. Sake bombs. Anime-clad dancers. We only have two words left: do it.
The Sakura Matsuri Street Festival is from 11AM-6PM on Saturday, April 9th. Metro: Metro Center or Federal Triangle.
